Introduction

love:live music is Ireland’s National Music Day. It is a celebration of all forms of music in Ireland through free nationwide music events.

The day aims to promote access to music for all, regardless of location or circumstance, and to encourage active participation in music events. Events on the day range from performances by national performing groups, to busking, music in the workplace events, workshops in schools, and music in public spaces. All genres, all instruments and all levels, from beginner to professional, are welcome to join in the celebration! The performances incorporate all genres from big bands to buskers, hip-hop to Bartok and everything in between. love:live music provides an opportunity for all organisations to increase local, regional and national profile through engagement with a national event.

Music Network hopes that love:live music will inspire everyone with any interest in music to come on board and make something happen to celebrate music in their area.  Music is part of our national identity, and we want to use this day to highlight its value in our society.   Love:live music, Ireland’s National Music Day,  casts a spotlight on the many, many musicians, groups and organisations working at both local and national levels to bring the exhilarating experience of live music to people throughout the country.  The success of the day is dependent on the active involvement of music groups and organisations working at ground level, so please do come on board and help us make love:live music 2011 an event to remember.
